Location: Cape Town, South Africa (Remote, with extensive travel)

Salary: R35,000 – R50,000 per month + competitive commission structure on sales

Reporting to: SA Branch Manager and UK Office (admin)

About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and driven Sales Engineer to join our group of companies. The candidate would ideally specialise in one or more of these fields:

Design, supply, and support of large motors, generators, and related electrical machinery
Manufacturing of high-quality power capacitors for power electronics
Provision of heavy engineering components and services across various industries

This is an exciting opportunity to grow the business in sub-Saharan Africa while working remotely from South Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating sales, building client relationships, and identifying opportunities across our product and service offerings. Over time, the goal is to establish a permanent office in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute sales strategies to grow business across sub-Saharan Africa, with a commission structure rewarding sales at various annual increments.
Identify and build relationships with potential clients in industries such as power generation, rail traction, oil & gas, industrial drives, material handling, mining, and more.
Promote the group’s products and services, including design, supply, support, maintenance, inspection, and commissioning of engineering solutions.
Work closely with the UK-based offices to receive training, technical support, and guidance as needed.
Conduct regular client visits and presentations to demonstrate product capabilities and value propositions.
Travel extensively across the region using personal transport (flights, mileage, and other travel costs covered by the company).
Manage the sales process from initial contact through to contract negotiation and closure.
Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and market analyses for the UK office.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred).
Proven sales experience in an engineering or technical environment.
Strong understanding of the engineering industry, including electrical machinery, power electronics, or heavy engineering components.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical solutions to clients.
Self-motivated and highly organised, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Willingness to travel extensively across sub-Saharan Africa, with potential factory and site visits abroad (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Americas).
Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transport.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems is a plus.
