Responsibilities and Duties
Sales representatives will have the opportunity to work closely with our customers. This includes, answering phones, writing invoices, helping customers make product selections, ordering special order materials, and much more.
Inventory Control
- Maintain proper inventory levels for hardware products such as:
- Fasteners
- Nails and screws
- Hand tools
- Power tools
- Building materials accessories
- Conduct regular stock counts and inventory audits
- Order products and manage restocking schedules
Purchasing & Vendor Relations
- Work with suppliers and vendors to purchase hardware merchandise
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and product availability
- Monitor product quality and resolve vendor issues
Customer Service
- Assist contractors, builders, and retail customers with product selection
- Provide technical advice on hardware and construction materials
- Resolve customer complaints and special-order requests
Sales & Merchandising
- Develop product displays and promotional setups
- Recommend upselling opportunities related to lumber and building projects
- Monitor market trends and seasonal product demand
Skills Commonly Required
- Knowledge of building materials and hardware products
- Retail management experience
- Inventory management
- Customer service and sales
- Basic construction knowledge
- Vendor relationships
- Computer/POS system skills
Qualifications and Skills
-Strong communication skills
-Strong work ethic, highly organized, self motivated
-High School diploma or GED equivalent
-College is a plus
-Sales experience is a plus
