Job Summary:
PTR Industries is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Specialized TIG Welder / Fabricator/Brazer. In this role, you will perform high-precision, microscopic, and structural welds on critical firearm components. The ideal candidate possesses deep metallurgical knowledge, excels at working within tight tolerances, and has experience with specialized firearms fabrication like muzzle device pinning and receiver restoration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision TIG Welding: Perform high-quality, microscopic, or small-scale TIG welds on critical firearm components (including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and Inconel).
- Muzzle Device Pin & Weld: Execute permanent muzzle brake and flash hider attachments (blind pinning and welding) to meet ATF length requirements.
- Parts Kit & Receiver Rebuilds: Weld, align, and restore torch-cut or demilled receivers back to exact factory dimensions and specifications.
- Micro-Welding & Repair: Deposit precise layers of filler metal on worn or undersized parts (such as 1911 frame rails or bolt handles) for custom hand-fitting.
- Blueprint & Tolerance Compliance: Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and military standards, working within tight tolerances down to thousandths of an inch.
- Post-Weld Processing: Clean, grind, blend, and finish weld seams seamlessly to prepare parts for final finishes like Cerakote, anodizing, or bluing.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of professional TIG welding experience, preferably in aerospace, medical device, or firearms manufacturing.
- Metallurgical Knowledge: Deep understanding of how welding heat affects hardened steel, temper, and structural integrity.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled with micro-TIG torches, welding positioners, fixtures, surface grinders, and rotary tools.
- Background Check: Must be able to legally possess firearms and pass a comprehensive background check as required by Federal Firearms License (FFL) regulations.
- Certifications: AWS D17.1 (Aerospace/Fusion Welding) or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.

- ITAR Compliance: Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or granted political asylum/refugee status) to access restricted data.
- Employment Eligibility: Must successfully complete Form I-9 Verification upon hire, providing valid, original, unexpired documents to prove identity and authorization to work in the United States.
