GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
The Finishing Associate is responsible for completing the final production processes of hard goods products to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers. The Finishing Associate must thoroughly inspect each product to find and correct flaws prior to forwarding it to the inspection station, place all cosmetic and necessary hardware on the product, cut and glue excess material, and clean the product to ensure customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare various hard and flexible plastic products for final presentation to the external customer by ensuring the product being produced matches the manufacturing order.
- After receiving the vacuum formed and foamed sub-assemblies from the Foaming Department, remove excess foam and ensure the outer material does not detach from the substrate by cutting, heating, trimming, and folding the material over the edge of the substrate. Fasten the excess ABS to the substrate and sand the material, cutting, or drilling out holes in plastic in the appropriate locations for attaching hardware to material and thoroughly clean the product.
- Communicate with internal customers, including the product inspector regarding product quality and other issues.
- Work cooperatively with R&D and Engineering Departments to identify areas for continuous improvement as well as help create work instructions for how to Finish newly developed products.
- Maintain and keep needed supplies and tools stocked and communicate with R&D when a tool or machinery needs to be repaired or replaced.
- Assist with managing workload for Finishing Department and communicate with other internal manufacturing departments as instructed by the Team Lead.
- Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Production Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and level of understanding needed to excel in this position.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Finishing Associate is subject to standing, bending, squatting, pushing, lifting objects, crawling, and working in otherwise awkward positions. Employee must manipulate their fingers, hands, wrists, and arms in repetitive motions continuously for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
The Finishing Associate works in a well-lighted environment but is subject to occasional high decibel sounds associated with production and non-toxic fumes associated with production. The duties of the position include working with tools, machinery, and other items that have very sharp edges, high levels of pressure, or are extremely hot and are subject to extreme repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.

Pay: $15.00 – $15.50 per hour
