We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented LAN Cabling and Installation Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems in commercial and residential settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables, as well as a strong understanding of network infrastructure and telecommunications systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a cables and fiber optic cables.
Set up and mount network devices such as routers, switches, access points, and patch panels.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and floor plans to determine cable pathways.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of installed systems.
Document work completed, including test results, cable maps, and as-built drawings.
Collaborate with project managers, IT staff, and electricians to ensure timely project completion.
Keep inventory of materials, tools, and equipment used for installations.
Working independently and finish with a clean and neat workspace
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications (e.g., BICSI, FOA) are a plus.
Proven experience in structured cabling, network installations, or a similar field.
Proficiency in cable testing tools (e.g., Fluke testers) and hand/power tools.
Basic understanding of LAN/WAN principles and IP networking.
Ability to work independently and in a team, sometimes in tight or elevated spaces.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of PoE devices, wireless network deployment, and VoIP systems.
Experience working in new construction, commercial buildings, or data centers.
