Structural Steel Erection Experience
Extensive knowledge of:
– Structural steel erection sequencing.
– Ironworker field operations.
– Crane picks and rigging awareness.
– Column plumbing and alignment.
– Beam and joist installation.
– Bolt-up and connection procedures.
– High-strength bolting in accordance with RCSC specifications.
– Temporary bracing and stability requirements.
– Connection detailing.
– Field welding operations.
– Structural tolerance verification.
– Reading erection drawings and sequencing plans.
– Coordination with superintendents, foremen, and field crews.
– Final structural inspections.
– Ironworker Experience
– Working knowledge of:
– Structural ironworker practices.
– Connecting structural steel.
– Bolt-up and fit-up operations.
– Field layout and alignment.
– Deck support installation.
– Miscellaneous metals installation.
– Anchor bolt verification.
– Rigging fundamentals.
– Fall protection systems.
– Elevated work practices.
– Construction site safety.
– Coordination between fabrication and erection operations.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Needs To be Experienced with:
– AWS visual inspection criteria.
– Weld discontinuity identification.
– Weld repair procedures.
– Welder qualification testing.
– Welding documentation.
– Material traceability.
– Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
– Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
– Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
– UT and MT inspection coordination.
– Third-party inspections.
– AISC certification requirements.
– Quality record management.
Minimum Qualifications
– Minimum 10 years of structural steel welding experience.
– Minimum 5 years of structural steel fabrication experience.
– Minimum 5 years of structural steel erection and ironworker experience.
– Minimum 3 years of welding instruction, mentoring, or workforce training.
– Thorough knowledge of AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2025.
– Ability to read and interpret fabrication and erection drawings.
– Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping.
Preferred Qualifications
– AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
– AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
– OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
– AISC quality systems experience
– NCCER Instructor Certification (preferred)
– Experience developing welding curriculum and hands-on training programs.
Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
