CNC Brake OperatorJob Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable CNC Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC press brake equipment to accurately bend and form sheet metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and production specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, experience with CNC controls and tooling, and the ability to safely operate a forklift for material handling. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, quality, and producing accurate parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal according to required dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs for different parts, materials, thicknesses, and bend requirements.
  • Select, install, and properly align punches, dies, and other press brake tooling.
  • Determine proper bend sequences, tooling, back-gauge settings, and machine parameters for each job.
  • Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, grain direction, and orientation before forming.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, protractors, angle gauges, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools to verify finished parts.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to achieve accurate bend angles, dimensions, and consistent part quality.
  • Identify and correct issues such as incorrect bend angles, dimensions, distortion, tooling alignment, or machine setup.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, tooling inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Safely load, position, and handle sheet metal and finished components using proper material-handling techniques.
  • Operate forklifts safely to load, unload, transport, and position sheet metal, raw materials, finished parts, pallets, and other manufacturing materials.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report any safety or mechanical concerns before operating equipment.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area and properly identify and store materials and completed parts.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, forklift safety, and safe material-handling practices.
  • Work efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining quality and minimizing material waste and machine downtime.

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating a CNC press brake in a sheet metal or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with CNC press brake controls, programming, setup, and tooling.
  • Previous forklift operating experience; forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing environment while handling sheet metal and other materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, bend drawings, and production specifications.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal materials, gauges, bend allowances, bend deductions, angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math, including fractions, decimals, measurements, angles, and dimensional calculations.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, protractors, tape measures, and other inspection equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and setup issues.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and move sheet metal and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.

Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
