Position Overview
Speakeasy Fitness is seeking an experienced California attorney to serve as Senior In-House Counsel.
This is a hands-on role focused primarily on premises liability and California employment law. We are looking for a practical, responsive attorney who can independently manage litigation and work directly with senior management on legal strategy, risk, and resolution.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney looking to transition from private practice into an in-house position or for an experienced in-house attorney seeking a hands-on litigation role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage premises liability and employment matters from claim through resolution
- Handle discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
- Advise management on California employment law, legal exposure, and litigation strategy
- Provide practical legal guidance on other matters affecting the business as needed
- Coordinate with outside counsel when appropriate
Qualifications
- Active member of the California Bar
- 6+ years of attorney experience
- Strong civil litigation background
- Experience independently managing litigation
- Experience in premises liability and/or California employment law preferred
- Strong legal writing, communication, and judgment
