Description
Our UK based client works closely with small and medium-sized businesses, offering fixed fees and a hands-on, proactive approach to accounting. Their goal is to enhance business’s profitability while minimising tax liabilities. In addition to identifying tax-saving opportunities and ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations, they provide everything businesses need to help manage their finances, including accounting software. They are looking for an Accounts Senior to join their team. The Accounts Senior will assist in preparing financial accounts for directors, support the workload management, and contribute to key accounting functions such as VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts. A detail-oriented, proactive individual with strong accounting knowledge and excellent communication skills, the ideal candidate is deadline-driven, adaptable to an evolving work environment, and capable of handling workload variations efficiently.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare draft financial accounts for director review
Assist in the preparation of VAT returns in compliance with UK regulations
Support the preparation of management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Perform bookkeeping duties, including bank reconciliations, journal postings, and ledger management
Ensure deadlines are met by following the workload planner
Provide support for financial reporting and analysis
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and tax legislation
Work collaboratively with the accounting team to manage workflow efficiently
Assist with ad hoc financial tasks as required by the operations manager
Meeting workload targets as per the weekly planner
Accurate and timely submission of accounts and reports
Compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations
Effective communication and problem-solving within the team
Skills, Experience & Requirements
CA(SA)/ACCA qualified or part-qualified
Experience in a general practice accounting role
Strong knowledge of relevant accounting standards
Proficiency in accounting software such as IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
Experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Friendly and approachable team player
Proactive and able to adapt to changing priorities
