Senior Bid Manager Jobs in Durban at African Arete

Senior Bid Manager required for our client site in Durban, KZN. As a key player in our organization, the Senior Bid Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of Requests for Tenders (RFTs), Proposals (RFPs), and Quotations (RFQs). You will collaborate closely with the Business Manager, departmental leaders, and tender administrators, transforming complex technical and commercial information into compelling bid documents and presentations that drive business growth.

In addition to managing the bid process, we are looking for someone with strong networks and a deep understanding of the construction and engineering industries. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in identifying and securing subcontracts and private projects within our CIDB-registered classes of work (CE: Civil engineering projects, EP: Electrical engineering projects, GB: General building projects)

Requirements –

Post Matric Qualification
At least 3 years in a managerial or team lead position
Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in tender response writing and tender submission coordination
Strong networks and relationships within the construction, engineering, and building industries, with proven ability to secure subcontracts and private work.
Comprehensive understanding of CIDB regulations and tendering processes in South Africa
Proven experience in leading successful tender and bid submissions, with a track record of securing contracts
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong ability to translate technical concepts into client-focused language
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
High attention to detail, with excellent proofreading and quality assurance capabilities
Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Manage the entire bid process from initial inquiry to submission, ensuring compliance with client requirements
Analyse bid documents, identify key deliverables, and develop a clear understanding of client needs
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, finance, legal, operations) to gather the necessary information and resources for the bid
Develop and write compelling proposals, including technical and commercial responses, that effectively address client requirements
Coordinate and lead bid review meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and informed
Analyse tender documents to understand client needs and evaluation criteria
Lead internal tender briefing meetings with key stakeholders to evaluate project feasibility and decide on bid participation
Develop and implement a structured plan for bid preparation to meet strict deadlines.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts, technical teams, and departmental heads to gather input for functional and commercial responses
