We are currently serving as the GC for the LGESMI facility project in Lansing, Michigan — one of the largest battery manufacturing construction projects in the region. Overview
TSI America is seeking [00] Safety Specialist(s) to join our team on an industrial construction project at LG Energy Solution Michigan, Inc. (LGESMI) in Lansing, Michigan. This is a project involving the buildout and expansion of a secondary battery manufacturing facility.
The Safety Specialist will work under the direction of the Site Safety Manager to implement and enforce TSI’s safety program, ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
This is a hands-on field role requiring daily presence on the construction site.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and correct any deficiencies identified
- Conduct safety orientations and issue badges to new workers
- Administer and enforce permit programs, including LOTO, confined space entry, fall protection, and hot work
- Observe subcontractor work activities and verify adherence to TSI America safety standards and requirements
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts (report to the Safety Manager as needed)
- Ensure PPE is available, in good condition, and being used correctly
Requirements
Certifications & Training
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a construction or industrial safety role
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or manufacturing construction projects preferred
Skills & Attributes
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail
- Diligent and hardworking
- Ability to communicate safety requirements clearly and professionally to TSI employees and subcontractors
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a safety team
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
Working Conditions
- Monday through Friday, plus one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) required
- Full-time, on-site position — indoor environment
- Working hours: Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day (regular schedule, covered by annual salary)
- Saturday and/or Sunday work paid as overtime at 1.5x the regular rate (overtime-eligible)
- Must be able to work on either Saturday or Sunday (Rotation shift)
- Must be able to walk the site and climb stairs (up to two levels) throughout the shift
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times on site (hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis vest, steel-toed boots)
Compensation & Benefits
- $68,000/year (Mon–Fri, 40 hrs/week), plus weekend work paid as overtime at 1.5x the regular rate
- Paid sick leave (per Michigan’s Earned Sick Time Act): 8 hours per month
