Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Inspector to join our furniture manufacturing facility in Florida. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and applicable Florida safety requirements, and working closely with management and employees to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience conducting workplace safety inspections, a strong understanding of OSHA regulations, and experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine safety inspections throughout the manufacturing facility, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and other operational areas.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, workplace hazards, and potential OSHA violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and applicable federal and Florida workplace safety requirements.
  • Perform follow-up inspections to ensure identified safety concerns are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Assist with accident, injury, near-miss, and incident investigations, including identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate safety inspection records, reports, corrective action documentation, and other required safety documentation.
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and compliance-related documentation.
  • Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and employee safety meetings.
  • Monitor proper use of PPE and compliance with machine guarding, lockout/tagout, forklift, chemical, fire prevention, and other applicable safety requirements.
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, work areas, walkways, emergency exits, fire protection equipment, and other workplace safety conditions.
  • Work with supervisors and department leaders to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Assist with preparing the facility for OSHA inspections and respond to safety-related requests or findings.
  • Stay current on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employees to report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in occupational safety, safety inspections, EHS, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on workplace safety.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with EPA regulations and environmental management systems.
  • Ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and report writing for incident investigations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Effective communication skills for training delivery and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Microsoft office and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; OSHA 30 preferred but not required.
  • OSHA or other recognized safety certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturing safety programs and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience with forklift, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, PPE, hazard communication, and emergency response programs.
  • Experience conducting workplace safety audits or inspections.
  • Experience assisting with OSHA inspections or citations is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the warehouse and inventory areas.
  • Ability to inspect manufacturing equipment, work areas, warehouse spaces, and production lines.
  • Good vision required for accurately reading labels, documents, and identifying hazards.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment while performing inspections.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including high ambient temperatures.

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
