We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Developer with 3 to 4 years of experience to join our Product Support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of existing mainframe applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues, analyze root causes, and implement fixes to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide L2/L3 level support for mainframe-based applications in a production environment.
Investigate and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests in a timely manner.
Perform root cause analysis of recurring issues and develop permanent solutions.
Analyze, debug, and fix issues in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS environments.
Support batch jobs and manage job failures and reruns as needed.
Participate in on-call rotations and ensure timely resolution of high-priority tickets.
Coordinate with development and QA teams to implement code fixes and patches.
Maintain documentation of support activities, incidents, resolutions, and workarounds.
Provide status reports, updates, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to SLAs and change management protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
3 to 4 years of experience in mainframe application development and support.
Strong hands-on experience with:
COBOL
JCL
DB2
VSAM
CICS
Familiarity with tools such as Endevor, File-AID, Abend-AID, and TSO/ISPF.
Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and ITIL processes.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Willingness to support off-hours and participate in on-call rotation when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a product-based or financial services domain.
Knowledge of monitoring tools and ticketing systems like BMC Remedy, Service Now, etc.
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
