The Lumberyard Worker at Copeland’s Rural Supply is responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the yard area, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard. This role involves assisting customers with loading and unloading merchandise, handling various materials and equipment, including forklifts, and supporting the yard team. The Yard Hand contributes to a safe and positive work environment, embodying the values of Copeland’s Rural Supply.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming and helpful representation of the store.
- Greet customers entering the yard and thank them when they leave.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor, interacting well with both customers and co-workers.
- Assist customers proactively, including helping with the loading of merchandise.
- Continually build product knowledge base and assist customers with yard layout and product location.
- Assist with receiving and stocking merchandise throughout the yard.
- Operate a forklift to load and unload incoming trucks.
- Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the yard and outdoor merchandise area.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth flow of operations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Complete any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving heavy objects weighing 50+ lbs.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to safety.
- Must possess a passion for helping others and contributing to a positive environment.
