Distinctive Lighting is looking for a Lighting Design & Sales Associate to join our team in Bozeman.
We’re not your typical lighting store. For more than 40 years, Distinctive Lighting has helped homeowners, builders, designers and contractors create beautiful, functional spaces through exceptional lighting and personalized design.
We’re looking for someone who is outgoing, personable, creative, detail-oriented and genuinely enjoys helping people. You don’t need to be a lighting expert—we can teach you lighting. What matters most is your personality, curiosity and desire to provide an exceptional experience for our customers.
What You’ll Do
- Meet with homeowners, builders, contractors and interior designers to understand their needs
- Help customers select lighting fixtures, bulbs and lighting solutions
- Assist with residential lighting design and fixture layouts
- Learn how lighting affects the look, feel and function of a space
- Prepare quotes, orders and product specifications
- Work with hundreds of lighting products and manufacturers
- Develop relationships with customers and local design/build professionals
- Follow projects from the initial design conversation through completion
- Collaborate with our experienced lighting designers and sales team
- Keep up with new lighting products, technology and design trends
This Could Be a Great Fit If You Are:
- A recent high school graduate looking for a career—not just a job
- A current or recent Interior Design student or graduate
- Studying interior design, architecture, construction or a related field
- Experienced in retail sales, customer service or design
- Someone with a natural eye for color, proportion and design
- Comfortable talking with people and building relationships
- Organized and detail-oriented
- A problem solver who enjoys figuring things out
- Someone with a great personality and a good sense of humor
- Motivated to learn and grow
No Lighting Experience? That’s OK.
We don’t expect you to walk through the door knowing the difference between Kelvin Temperature and lumens!
You’ll receive hands-on training from our experienced team and learn the fundamentals of residential lighting, fixture selection, lighting design, LED technology, color temperature, controls and much more.
We’re looking for the right person. We’ll teach you the lighting business.

- Reliable and willing to learn
- Previous sales, customer service or design experience is helpful, but not required
Interior Design education or experience is a major plus.
