Job Summary
K2 Restoration Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Restoration Technician to oversee emergency mitigation and restoration projects throughout the South Shore and surrounding Massachusetts communities. The Lead Technician will lead field crews, evaluate property damage, establish proper drying and mitigation procedures, maintain accurate job documentation, communicate with customers, and ensure projects meet K2 and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technicians and crew members on restoration projects
- Respond to emergency water, fire, mold, and storm losses
- Perform initial job-site assessments
- Identify affected materials and areas
- Take and document moisture readings
- Create and maintain moisture maps
- Determine appropriate equipment placement
- Set up and monitor dehumidifiers, air movers, air scrubbers, containment, and other equipment
- Perform and oversee water extraction, structural drying, demolition, cleaning, and remediation
- Ensure work follows IICRC standards and K2 procedures
- Maintain complete photo documentation and daily job records
- Ensure equipment placement and drying logs are accurate
- Communicate project status and concerns to management
- Serve as the primary field contact for homeowners when appropriate
- Explain the mitigation process and next steps professionally to customers
- Train and mentor Restoration Technicians
- Assign tasks and supervise crew productivity
- Maintain clean and safe job sites
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are properly maintained
- Identify additional damage or changes in scope and report them before proceeding
- Participate in K2’s emergency/on-call rotation
That’s consistent with current Massachusetts Lead Technician positions, where leads are expected to oversee crews, perform inspections, establish drying plans, document losses, communicate with customers, and train junior technicians.
Lead Technician Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of restoration/mitigation experience — I’d use this as K2’s starting threshold
- Strong knowledge of water damage mitigation and structural drying
- Experience operating professional restoration equipment
- Experience taking moisture readings and documenting drying progress
- Ability to lead and supervise a field crew
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems independently in the field
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to perform physical restoration work and lift approximately 50–60+ lbs
- Ability to work in basements, crawlspaces, confined areas, and varying temperatures
- Availability for emergency/on-call response
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in customers’ homes and businesses
Strongly Preferred
- IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification
- Experience with restoration documentation software
- Experience working on insurance-related restoration losses
IICRC WRT is particularly relevant for the lead position. SERVPRO locations also list certifications such as WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, health/safety, and OSHA-related training, while current Massachusetts lead postings commonly prefer or require water/mold certifications.

Pay: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour
