Position: Print Machine Operator
Reports to: Plant Manager
Location: Southlake, TX
Hours: 8am – 4pm, varies with our production schedule.
Overtime available during busy seasons. We don’t guarantee 8 hours per day during slower seasons.
You will run our Zund flatbed cutting table as your primary machine — preparing cut jobs, setting up tooling, loading substrate (fabric and vinyl), cutting, organizing prints, and owning the maintenance on the machine.
We value operators who can cross train and run all our machines, not just one station. The goal will be to train you on every machine in production:
- Zünd flatbed cutting table — your home machine
- Durst Rhotex — dye-sublimation direct-to-textile printer
- Durst Rho P10 — UV flatbed
- Epson SureColor S60600 — 64″ eco-solvent roll-to-roll
- Monti Antonio heat transfer press
- Seal laminator
Responsibilities:
- Run the Zund daily — cut file prep, tooling setup, material loading, cutting, quality check. Must work hard to ensure efficient, accurate, on-time, high-quality prints in a fast-paced production environment, minimizing mistakes as much as possible.
- Adhere to the daily production schedule. Accurate, on-time prints, minimal waste, in a fast-paced shop.
- Daily operation of RIP software, printer-control software, and/or cutting table software to produce correct and accurate print output, minimizing waste.
- Own maintenance on your machines — daily upkeep, scheduled service, first-line troubleshooting. Uptime is the #1 priority of the job. Must demonstrate “ownership” over all aspects of machine use, care, maintenance, repairs – so as to ensure high reliability and uptime, and minimal breakages and problems. Must work to ensure that all printing equipment is operating at full functionality and maximum efficiency at all times. Must keep printing equipment well maintained so as to prevent any equipment failures.
- Keep machines calibrated and profiled so color and cut quality stay consistent.
- Use the provided tools (Asana) to keep accurate records of all machine issues, maintenance, repairs, and ongoing up-keep. Keep detailed notes and logs of all dates, service, technician visits, etc.
- Ensure that printing tools and work area are clean, in good working order, and are free of safety hazards.
- Keep track of all consumables needed for printing. Communicate with management to ensure that the equipment is supplied with ink, cleaning supplies, and all other consumables as needed – never running out of supplies.
- Support the Production Supervisor on a daily basis with the details of production planning and production schedule.
- Work collaboratively with production team members to ensure that production jobs are well prioritized, accurate, and completed on-time and without waste.
- Assist other production team members with production-related tasks as needed.
- Communicate constructively and proactively with management regarding any production errors, production efficiencies, workplace hazards, or other concerns.
- Comply with all safety regulations and Ace Displays policies, demonstrating a positive attitude
Abilities and Experience:
- 1+ year in a production print, sign, or fabrication shop running powered equipment. Experience operating and maintaining large format printers/cutters and equipment is a plus. (Ace will also provide training).
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with a “hands on” approach – is required.
- Good eye for color, quality, and details.
- Comfortable on a computer: file handling, software menus, typing.
- Ability to operate efficiently, effectively, and with high quality execution while handling delicate materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to carefully handle delicate printed materials to avoid damage and ensure a high-quality final product.
- Strong organization and communication skills are required.
- Be a team player with a positive attitude at all times.
Basic Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate a computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse, typing).
- Ability to do basic math calculations.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
