Position Summary
BEAM is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a Class A or B CDL to join our team. This is a hands-on field position responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing construction equipment and vehicles at jobsites throughout the region.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, trustworthy, mechanically skilled, and willing to learn and work. Previous jobsite or field-service experience is a strong plus.
This position is currently based in Blue Ash, Ohio, with plans to transition to BEAM Monroe within approximately 3–4 months.
Job Duties:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair construction equipment and vehicles in field and jobsite environments
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as needed
- Drive and operate a Class B service truck to jobsites and service locations
- Travel to jobsites throughout the region to provide equipment support
- Identify mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs
- Complete repairs safely and efficiently to minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain and organize the service truck, tools, parts, and supplies
- Communicate effectively with jobsite teams regarding equipment issues and repair status
- Follow company safety procedures and all applicable DOT requirements.
- Work independently in field environments while providing reliable service to our project teams.
Experience servicing and repairing construction and heavy equipment is preferred, including:
- Bobcats and skid steers
- Dozers
- Excavators
- Tractor-trailers
- Forklifts and material-handling equipment
- Trucks and service vehicles
- Other construction and heavy equipment
Travel & Work Environment:
This is primarily a field-based position, with most work performed outdoors at active construction jobsites.
Typical service areas include:
- Cincinnati, OH
- Columbus, OH
- Louisville, KY
- Lexington, KY
Travel outside these areas may occasionally be required depending on project needs. Some assignments may also require overnight stays.
Because much of the work is performed outdoors, candidates must be comfortable working in and adapting tochanging weather and jobsite conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL required
- Ability to safely drive and operate a Class B service truck
- Previous mechanic experience with construction, heavy, diesel, or similar equipment
- Experience working on equipment such as Bobcats, dozers, excavators, and tractor-trailers
- Jobsite or field-service mechanic experience preferred
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Willingness and ability to travel to regional jobsites
- Flexibility for occasional overnight travel
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Dependable, trustworthy, and safety-minded
- Strong work ethic and willingness to continue learning
