Purpose of the Role
The Financial Manager will proactively manage the full financial, accounting, and administrative operations of the company, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and supporting the strategic goals of the organization. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, while also leading and mentoring the finance team to achieve operational and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting:
Participate in the development of the company’s strategic direction and assist with the preparation of the annual company budget. Contribute input into improving profitability and simplifying the business model. Analyze financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and align financial planning with business goals. Prepare, manage, and report on budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
Financial Accounting & Compliance:
Oversee the full financial accounting function, including annual audits, tax computations, and the preparation of financial statements. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, IRP5, etc.). Maintain financial controls, manage reconciliations, and oversee cost allocations and cash flow management. Oversee the preparation of monthly management reports, including balance sheet and income statement analysis.
Employee Management & Development:
Lead, supervise, and manage the finance team, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback. Develop and manage succession plans and personal development plans for employees.
Financial Systems & Process Optimization:
Implement strategic financial systems and practices in line with IFRS and the company’s goals. Continuously review and optimize accounting systems and financial processes to improve efficiency and reduce risks. Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies.
General Administration & Relationship Management:
Liaise with suppliers, manage banking administration, and oversee credit applications. Foster positive relationships within the team and with external stakeholders to support the company’s culture and values.
