JOB SUMMARY

The Ethics and Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s ethics and compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This role plays a key part in fostering a culture of integrity and accountability across all levels of the organization.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, or a related field.

· Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards.

· Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Experience in Logistics Industry highly advantageous

· Familiarity with compliance management software or tools.

· Proficiency in using financial compliance tools and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure the organization complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

· Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, advising on their implications and necessary adjustments.

· Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures.

· Ensure employees understand and adhere to these policies.

· Identify and assess compliance risks within the organization.

· Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and implement preventive measures.

· Conduct regular compliance audits to monitor adherence to internal and external standards.

· Investigate reported compliance violations and recommend corrective actions.

· Organize training programs for staff on compliance policies, regulations, and ethical conduct.

· Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the organization.

· Prepare and submit reports to senior management, regulators, or governing bodies on compliance performance and issues.

· Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory authorities.

· Oversee and manage the organization’s code of conduct and ethics policies.

· Address any ethical concerns or breaches.

· Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).

· Implement measures to safeguard sensitive data and prevent breaches.

· Monitor compliance of third-party vendors, partners, and contractors with the organization’s standards.

· Conduct due diligence and periodic reviews of third-party relationships.

· Ensure the organization maintains all necessary licenses, permits, and certifications required for its operations.

· Develop and implement compliance incident response plans.

· Manage compliance-related crises effectively and in alignment with regulatory requirements.
