Overview
Entry Level Milk Lab Technician/Leadership track Jobs in Sauk Centre, MN at Minnesota DHIA
Minnesota DHIA Laboratories is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented full-time person to join our milk laboratory team. We are open to candidates at a variety of experience levels—from someone looking to begin a career in laboratory work to an experienced candidate interested in greater responsibility and the potential to grow into a future Milk Laboratory Manager role.
Previous laboratory experience is not required. We can teach you how to test milk. What is especially valuable to us is attention to detail, dependability, comfort with technology, good judgment, and the ability to work well with coworkers and customers.
Candidates with supervisory, technical, laboratory, or management experience may be considered for expanded responsibilities. Compensation will be evaluated based on skills, experience, and level of responsibility.
What You’ll Be Doing at Entry Level
- Preparing and processing milk samples according to established procedures
- Operating computerized laboratory equipment and testing systems
- Monitoring results and processes for accuracy and quality
- Entering, reviewing, and working with laboratory data
- Troubleshooting routine problems and helping keep work moving efficiently
- Maintaining clean, organized equipment and work areas
- Communicating with coworkers
Interested in Leadership?
For the right candidate, this position can offer substantially more than routine laboratory work. We are particularly interested in someone with the interest and potential to grow into a leadership or management role within the milk laboratory and possibly cross over into other divisions of the organization.
Depending on experience and demonstrated ability, additional responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating daily laboratory workflow and staffing
- Training, coaching, and supervising laboratory employees
- Maintaining high standards for accuracy, efficiency, and quality control
- Identifying problems and taking initiative to find solutions
- Working with laboratory equipment, computers, software, and technical vendors
- Communicating professionally with members and customers
- Helping improve laboratory procedures and operations
- Repair, calibrate, dispatch, & document meters and parts from supply center
You do not need to arrive ready to manage the laboratory on day one. We are interested in finding someone with the ability, interest, and initiative to grow into greater responsibility over time.
What Helps You Succeed Here
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have a strong attention to detail and take pride in getting things right
- Are dependable and take ownership of your responsibilities
- Are comfortable with computers, technology, and automated equipment
- Stay organized and can manage several priorities at once
- Work well with a team but don’t need constant direction
- Communicate comfortably and professionally with customers
- Identify and solve problems rather than simply working around them
- Are comfortable being on your feet for much of the workday
For candidates interested in advancement, we especially value the ability to lead by example, train and coach others, communicate expectations, organize people and priorities, and earn the trust of coworkers.
Experience
Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. No previous milk laboratory experience is necessary, and we provide training.
Experience in laboratory work, dairy or agriculture, manufacturing, quality control, technology, employee supervision, or operations management may qualify a candidate for greater responsibility and higher starting compensation.
A college degree is not necessarily required. Demonstrated ability, reliability, experience, and leadership potential are important to us.
