Energy Asset Accountant
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Job Description
Cross Boundary Energy is recruiting a full-time Energy Asset Accountant to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Accountant will be responsible for managing all debtor accounts, including monthly invoicing under tight deadlines, revenue collections, customer relationships, as well as customer contract management, ensuring our diverse customer portfolio information across Africa.
In addition, the Accountant will track and manage project Opex, maintain a list of contractors, liaise with local accountants to ensure all project expenses are accounted for monthly, track EBITDA against forecasts, and provide monthly insights on deviations.
The Accountant will work directly with the Senior Asset Manager and the Asset Management team to manage profit and loss of all operational assets in the Energy business.
Who You Are
4+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience in Sage
A self-starter who can work independently
Enjoys setting up new processes and bringing your own ideas
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Excellent technical accounting skills
CA(SA) or CIMA preferred but not required
Primary Responsibilities
Manage the monthly revenue billing process for operational projects, ensuring timely delivery of invoices
Oversee customer contract management in Sage, including onboarding and liaising with project teams for smooth transition from construction to operations
Maintain debtors age analysis to ensure payments are received on or before due dates
Manage O&M contractor information and costs, liaising with local accountants for expense accounting in accordance with IFRS
Coordinate the preparation of project EBITDA budgets and financial forecasts
Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights on deviations
Assist with administrative functions and support asset management and finance teams as needed
