Gillespie Precast is seeking a Crew Leader to join our manufacturing team in Asheboro, North Carolina. In this role, you will oversee daily production activities while serving as a hands-on working leader for your assigned crew. The Crew Leader is responsible for ensuring safe work practices, maintaining quality standards, supporting production goals, and developing team members through training and leadership.

This position offers an opportunity to take a leadership role in a growing manufacturing environment while contributing to the successful production of high-quality precast concrete products.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Production

  • Manage daily production activities for assigned crew members.
  • Communicate regularly with Plant Supervisors and Plant Managers regarding production priorities and schedules.
  • Understand and plan for current and upcoming production needs.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of production-related materials and notify management when supplies are low.
  • Ensure production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Safety

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily housekeeping and work area inspections.
  • Report injuries, hazards, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents promptly.

Quality

  • Ensure products meet quality standards and are properly inspected before concrete placement.
  • Follow Quality Control directives and communicate requirements to crew members.
  • Maintain organized work areas that support quality production.

Leadership

  • Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic.
  • Train and support new employees.
  • Promote positive attendance, punctuality, and workplace conduct.
  • Coach and motivate team members to meet production, safety, and quality objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work and job sites, as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, crouch, kneel.
  • Stand for at least 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb in and around concrete/forms.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. several times a day.
  • Perform manual labor and utilize various hand tools.

Schedule

  • Must be able to start at 7:00 AM daily.
  • Monday – Friday, 40+ hours per week
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs
