COUNTERTOP FABRICATOR / POLISHER

West Allis, WI | Full-Time | $26-$32/hour DOE

ABOUT US

SUMMIT GRANITE STONE AND CABINET DESIGN is seeking an experienced Countertop Fabricator / Polisher to join our growing fabrication team.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and quality-focused stone professional with hands-on experience fabricating and polishing granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, dolomite, and other countertop materials.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 3 years of professional countertop fabrication and polishing experience
  • Experience working with granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, dolomite, and other natural stone materials
  • Strong experience polishing countertop edges, sink cutouts, inside corners, and finished stone surfaces
  • Experience performing chip repairs, seam preparation, touch-ups, and other fabrication corrections
  • Ability to use hand polishers, grinders, routers, pneumatic tools, and other stone fabrication equipment
  • Ability to read measurements, shop drawings, templates, and fabrication instructions
  • Ability to identify scratches, chips, cracks, fissures, uneven polishing, and other quality issues
  • Strong understanding of proper polishing pads, grits, tooling, and techniques for different stone materials
  • Ability to safely handle and move heavy and fragile countertop pieces
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors and understand production and safety instructions
  • Reliable transportation and authorization to work in the United States

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Polish and finish granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, and other countertop materials
  • Perform edge polishing, sink cutout polishing, backsplash finishing, and detail work
  • Fabricate and finish countertop pieces according to approved measurements and shop drawings
  • Perform chip repairs, surface corrections, seam preparation, and minor fabrication adjustments
  • Verify dimensions and inspect pieces throughout the fabrication process
  • Inspect completed countertops for scratches, chips, polishing defects, incorrect dimensions, and other quality concerns
  • Prepare finished pieces for installation and confirm that all fabrication requirements have been completed
  • Coordinate with bridge saw operators, CNC operators, installers, and the fabrication lead to maintain an efficient production flow
  • Clearly identify and organize countertop pieces by project
  • Report damaged material, incorrect dimensions, fabrication concerns, or drawing discrepancies before work continues
  • Maintain fabrication tools and equipment in proper working condition
  • Keep the fabrication area clean, organized, and safe
  • Follow Summit Granite quality standards, fabrication procedures, and required safety practices
  • Support other areas of production when needed

PAY, SCHEDULE & BENEFITS

$26-$31/hour, based on verified experience and demonstrated skills | Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

  • 40-hour standard workweek
  • Two 15-minute paid breaks and one 30-minute unpaid lunch

PERFORMANCE, QUALITY & SAFETY

Fabricators and polishers are expected to maintain strong productivity while consistently producing installation-ready pieces that meet Summit Granite’s quality standards.

Quality expectations include:

  • Smooth and consistent polished edges
  • Properly finished sink cutouts and inside corners
  • Accurate dimensions
  • Clean and properly prepared seams
  • No avoidable scratches, chips, burns, or polishing marks
  • Proper edge profiles and finished surfaces
  • Careful handling of fragile natural stone and quartz materials
  • Final inspection before pieces leave the fabrication department

Production speed is important, but quality, accuracy, material protection, and safety are non-negotiable.

Employees must follow applicable OSHA requirements, required PPE standards, safe lifting and stone-handling procedures, and established fabrication practices.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Qualified candidates will complete a telephone interview followed by an in-person interview at our West Allis facility.

During the in-person interview, candidates’ fabrication and polishing knowledge may be evaluated. Candidates may be asked to demonstrate or explain:

  • Proper countertop edge polishing techniques
  • Sink cutout polishing and finishing
  • Proper polishing pad and grit progression
  • Chip and minor stone repair techniques
  • Identification of fabrication and quality defects
  • Safe use of fabrication tools and material-handling equipment
