Duties
- Perform thorough inspections of chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems to identify blockages, damage, or code violations
- Clean chimneys and fireplaces using specialized tools to remove soot, creosote buildup, debris, and obstructions
- Repair or replace damaged chimney components such as flues, liners, caps, dampers, and masonry structures
- Install new chimney systems or retrofit existing ones according to blueprint specifications and safety standards
- Interpret construction plans, schematics, technical drawings, and blueprint specifications to ensure accurate work execution
- Apply masonry skills including bricklaying, stone masonry, mortar work, stucco application, and concrete finishing for chimney repair or installation projects
- Operate hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment, scaffolding structures including masonry scaffold building safely and efficiently
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols during all phases of work to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with industry regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in masonry work such as bricklaying, stone masonry, concrete forming, or related construction fields
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating processes and interpreting technical drawings or schematics
- Familiarity with building material installation including rebar installation, caulking, stucco application, tile laying, and metal stud framing
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely along with hand tools and power tools used in masonry and construction tasks
- Experience with construction site procedures including renovation projects and working on various building types
- Excellent understanding of safety protocols specific to construction sites involving masonry work and heavy equipment operation
- Valid experience in construction estimating or blueprint reading preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is valued highly
