PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the Wetmill production area, ensuring high-quality output across various board dimensions and lengths.
Managing safety programs, employee performance, and quality control to maintain and improve production standards.
Minimizing downtime and optimizing production flow to achieve efficiency and recovery targets.
Continuously identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance product quality and operational performance.
Minimum Job Requirements:
–Â Â Â Â Â Grade 12
–Â Â Â Â Â Wood Technology Diploma or relevant qualification and experience
–Â Â Â Â Â Be able to converse in English and Afrikaans
–Â Â Â Â Â Previous Sawmilling experience (2-3 years)
–Â Â Â Â Â Wetmill and Green chain experience
–     Must be able to lead and manage a team of ± 45 employees
–Â Â Â Â Â Must be able to work with limited Supervision
–Â Â Â Â Â Must be able to work overtime
–     Must be medically fit – able to pass occupational medical test
–Â Â Â Â Â Interpersonal and communication skills
–Â Â Â Â Â Planning and organizing skills
–Â Â Â Â Â Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel)

Duties and responsibilities
Achieve and maintain daily Wetmill intake, recovery standards and production targets.
Daily machine inspections
Ensure compliance with SABS grading requirements.
Ensure that stackers guides are removed before pulling out the stacks.
Responsible, record keeping of safety audit/inspections and reach a DIFR below 1%.
Maintain and improve production throughput and quality standards.
Ensure all employees are competent on respective machinery.
Report any deviations or breakdowns timeously to the foreman/manager and assist in taking active measures to minimise future incidents.
Formulate, issue and follow up of job cards.
Maintain and improve recovery targets.
Ensure compliance in OSHACT (monthly tasks, Training, SWP, Job observations and BOP training)
Ensure housekeeping within your area is up to standard and that all machinery have been greased, oiled and cleaned after every shift.
Implement and uphold all company policy (Disciplinary, Leave, Smoking Cell phone, etc).
Preparation and implementation of employee’s development and succession planning.
Responsible for daily accurate time keeping and attendance (Ensure all employees clock on VIPER system before and after shift)Â
