Studio Portal is a Cape Town-based creative production studio specialising in professional podcast, YouTube, video and content production for brands, businesses and creators.
We are looking for a practical, creative and technically minded Videographer And Content Production Assistant to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the camera, understands the basics of video and audio production, and has a sharp eye for clean, professional content. You do not need to know absolutely everything on day one. Some skills can be taught on the job, but we do need someone who is curious, organised and willing to learn quickly.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
- Camera setup and operation for video recordings, interviews, podcasts and content shoots.
- Setting up and managing audio recording equipment, including sound recorders such as the Zoom H6.
- Audio levelling during recordings to ensure clean, consistent sound quality.
- Basic lighting setup for professional-looking video content.
- Operating and supporting recording systems such as the ATEM recording system.
- Assisting with video editing using tools such as DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Working with Adobe products as part of the content production process.
- Supporting basic audio mastering and post-production.
- Managing, backing up and organising footage and project files.
- Assisting with shot composition to ensure visually strong and well-framed content.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Knowledge and experience with camera operation.
- Experience with sound recording equipment.
- Basic understanding of audio levels and recording quality.
- Video editing skills, preferably in DaVinci Resolve and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Experience using Adobe products.
- Knowledge of lighting for video production.
- Some experience with audio mastering.
- Experience with ATEM or similar recording systems would be beneficial.
- Strong file management and organisational skills.
- A good understanding of shot composition and visual storytelling.
- Their own reliable transport.
- The ability to travel to shoots in and around Cape Town City Centre.
- Reside close enough to Cape Town City Centre to reliably attend shoots, recordings and production days when required.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented and calm under pressure. Production days can be fast-paced, and the right person will be able to think on their feet, keep files organised, and help make sure every shoot runs smoothly.
A good attitude matters. Technical skills are important, but so is the willingness to learn, take initiative and solve problems without creating unnecessary drama. We have enough cables for that.
