At its core is NesuMind, a proprietary, context-aware AI health assistant that delivers clinical-grade triage, wellness guidance, and symptom checking through web-native experiences. The ecosystem includes intelligent AI triage, a comprehensive vitals dashboard, voice-enabled symptom checking, and premium wellness modules such as smart meal planning, AI-driven fitness, and medication reminders. CareNesu serves both individuals and enterprises, offering scalable digital wellness solutions that reduce app fatigue and support chronic care management and workforce wellbeing.

This is an equity-based role. CareNesu Healthcare is a pre-seed startup. There is no salary at this stage.
Compensation is through an equity stake of 3% – 7%, negotiated based on experience and commitment, and subject to a standard 4-year vesting schedule with a 1-year cliff:
- No equity is earned if you leave before 12 months
- After 12 months: 25% of your equity vests immediately
- Remaining 75% vests monthly over the following 3 years
- Salary will be introduced upon successful seed funding

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time, remote, sweat-equity leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end engineering function at CareNesu Healthcare. This role leads distributed engineering teams, defines technical strategy, and ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable digital health products powered by NesuMind AI.
Day-to-day responsibilities include setting engineering standards, managing execution across multiple projects, partnering with product and design on roadmap planning, and driving continuous improvement in development, testing, and deployment practices.
The Vice President of Engineering will collaborate closely with executive leadership, including the Founder & CEO, who currently holds the CTO function to align technology initiatives with business goals, uphold security and compliance requirements, and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and inclusive teamwork.
This role also involves mentoring engineering leaders, managing vendor and partner relationships, and supporting long-term platform architecture and infrastructure decisions.
While listed as full-time in commitment level, this role begins as a sweat-equity arrangement. Transition to a formal salaried position with benefits will occur upon the company closing seed funding.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated expertise in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, including building, scaling, and mentoring distributed engineering teams
- Strong hands-on background in Software Development, with experience designing and delivering cloud-based, secure, and highly available platforms
- Proficiency in Project Management, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and coordinating cross-functional delivery
- Experience in Product Development, partnering with product and design to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and features
- Proven ability to define and execute engineering strategy, technical vision, and architectural direction for complex systems
- Working knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, POPIA) and secure software development practices
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools
- Familiarity with AWS serverless architecture Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway is a strong advantage
- Experience with AI/LLM integrations (OpenAI, AWS Bedrock) is a strong advantage
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead in a remote, multicultural environment
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
