Are you someone who has an interest / experience in:
Technical and Operational Responsibilities:
Investigate and resolve any valuation discrepancies identified.
Check the validity, consistency, accuracy, and reliability of valuations based on models, data sources, and data used.
Provide independent valuations for reserving requirements or to inform business decisions.
Determine reserves for incorrect models or inputs.
Perform reviews and enhancements of reserving methodologies.
Investigate discrepancies and data issues impacting valuations.
Maintain and develop the team’s Python tools and architecture for reserve quantification and proactive controls checking.
Drive, in partnership with management, the IT transformation for the team, seeking to further develop and enhance existing architecture.
Compliance and Governance:
Remain abreast of and ensure valuation-relevant compliance with statutory, legislative, policy, and governance requirements in the area of accountability.
Ensure implementation of relevant policies, governance, and practice standards across the business.
Stakeholder Management:
Engage with various committees and forums in the provision of subject matter expertise and opinion and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Provide support to the CFO or CRO if there are technical valuations issues that cannot be resolved.
Collaborate with other teams across the organization, including initiating meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations, and ensure stakeholders’ requirements are delivered.
Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue, listen, advise, influence, and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes.

In essence, this role requires someone who has and can provide subject matter expertise and experience and collaborate with valuations team members to resolve any valuation discrepancies arising from systems, models, and inputs. The candidate will also be required to provide independent valuations, across a wide array of complex assets, either for PnL, or to inform business decisions. The individual will also play a role in driving team enhancements, through strengthening the control fabric, operational efficiencies, and delivery of daily operations.
The preferred candidate should be a highly organized and analytical individual with strong attention to detail and communication, the ability to work with unstructured problems, resilience and problem-solving skills. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team and have a strong understanding of the financial engineering and financial markets.
You will be an ideal candidate if you:
A passion for financial derivative valuations and problem solving around these
A broad-based understanding of the different asset classes traded in Global Markets, including derivative products
Honours degree or postgraduate qualification in mathematical finance or related quantitative finance field
Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in a CIB environment
Experience with Python, Murex, or PowerBI is an advantage
