Overview:
Our client, a top-tier South African company, is looking for a skilled UI/UX Designer to help shape the future of digital experiences. In this role, you will develop digital products for renowned brands by leveraging cutting-edge technology and a sophisticated tech stack.
Key Responsibilities:
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and mobile using tools like Figma or Sketch.
Ensure alignment of your designs with the existing design system, contributing to its evolution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility, high-quality outcomes, and alignment.
Advocate for user needs by conducting usability tests and iterating designs based on feedback.
Analyse user data and behaviour to inform design decisions and deliver intuitive solutions.
Regularly communicate and present your design ideas to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Design
3-5 years of experience in UI/UX design
Proficient in Figma (auto-layout, components, prototyping) and Sketch
Knowledge of working with design systems and usability testing tools
Experience with usability testing and user research
A strong portfolio showcasing design thinking and cross-platform projects
Core Competencies:
A design-forward and problem-solving outlook with attention to detail
Familiarity with accessibility standards to ensure inclusive design
Understanding of South African audiences’ digital behaviour
Clear communication skills to articulate ideas and facilitate discussions
Strong user research skills and the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights
Ability to align design deliverables with functional and technical requirements
Preferred (Nice-to-have) Experience:
Experience with news/media platforms or high-traffic digital products
Knowledge of analytics tools like Google Analytics or Hotjar
Familiarity with Agile frameworks or Scrum environments
Understanding of South Africa’s digital audience and their engagement patterns
Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS
