Company Description
SpeedyDollar, part of Aventus Group, is a U.S.-based lending business expanding its collections operation with a dedicated team based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Our Cape Town-based Collections Specialists will work directly with U.S. customers, managing delinquent consumer loan accounts and supporting SpeedyDollar’s growing U.S. lending portfolio.
We are looking for experienced collectors with strong English communication skills, proven negotiation ability, and experience working with U.S. customers. As the operation grows, strong performers will have opportunities to progress into Senior Collector, Team Leader, and other leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound collections calls with U.S. customers regarding past-due consumer loans.
- Negotiate payments and approved payment arrangements.
- Manage Promises to Pay (PTPs) and follow up on outstanding commitments.
- Apply effective negotiation, persuasion, and objection-handling techniques to maximise recoveries.
- Accurately document customer interactions, payment commitments, and account updates in the CRM.
- Work across dialler and approved digital communication channels.
- Meet individual collections KPIs, including RPC, PTP conversion, cure/recovery rate, productivity, and quality.
- Follow company procedures and applicable U.S. collections and consumer-protection requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of direct phone collections experience.
- Previous experience collecting from U.S. customers is strongly preferred.
- Experience in consumer lending, fintech, personal loans, credit cards, auto finance, or similar financial products is advantageous.
- Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to communicate confidently and naturally with U.S. customers.
- Strong negotiation, objection-handling, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with CRMs, diallers, and collections systems.
- Understanding of collections metrics such as RPC, PTP, cure rate and recovery rate.
- Knowledge of FDCPA, Regulation F, TCPA and U.S. collections communication requirements is advantageous.
- Comfortable working in a target-driven environment with individual performance expectations.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate account documentation.
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- The interview process will include a spoken English assessment and a collections role-play in English.
