Our Crew Leaders play an important role in ensuring that our jobs run smoothly by leading the crew, coordinating work on site, and taking ownership of each job from arrival through final cleanup. Essential Functions:
- Review work orders and ensure the crew understands the scope of work, customer expectations, and plan for each job.
- Set up and manage job sites, including equipment positioning, drop zones, drag paths, traffic control, property protection, and identification of safety risks.
- Direct climbers and ground crew, assign responsibilities, and keep work progressing safely and efficiently throughout the day.
- Coordinate rigging operations from the ground and ensure climbers have the ropes, equipment, and support needed to work efficiently.
- Make job-site decisions and adjust the work plan as conditions change while maintaining safe work practices.
- Communicate professionally with customers before, during, and after work and address basic questions or concerns on site.
- Operate mini skid steers, skid steers, chippers, chainsaws, and other tree care equipment safely as needed.
- Buck, move, and process larger wood and debris using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Assist with pruning, removals, and other tree work from the ground as needed.
- Perform occasional bucket work if trained, qualified, and willing; climbing is not required for this position.
- Ensure completed work matches the work order and oversee final cleanup and quality control before leaving the property.
- Keep track of tools and equipment throughout the day and ensure everything is properly loaded and secured at the end of each job.
- Oversee routine equipment care, including fueling, greasing, fluid checks, and identifying maintenance or repair needs.
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, respectful, and productive job site for both crew members and customers.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in horticulture, forestry, or a related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in arboriculture, construction, forestry, or field work preferred.
- Clean and insurable driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Good communication skills for interacting with team members and the public.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- Comfort with climbing and working at heights when necessary.
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during fieldwork.
Pay: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour
