About The Role
An established technology and engineering organisation operating within the mining and industrial sectors is seeking an experienced Training Specialist to join its team in Boksburg.
This is a technical training position requiring someone who understands electronics, instrumentation, diagnostics and technical fault-finding and can translate complex technical information into effective training programmes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering advanced technical and product training to employees, customers and business partners. The role works closely with engineering, product development and operational teams to ensure training remains technically accurate, relevant and aligned with product, compliance and competency requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Assessor and Moderator – essential
- Approximately 5–7 years’ experience in technical training, preferably within electronics, mining, engineering, instrumentation or an industrial environment
- Strong technical knowledge of electronic systems, diagnostics and technical fault-finding
- Advanced technical qualification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering or a related technical discipline is highly advantageous
- Proven experience in instructional design and development of technical training programmes
- Experience conducting competency assessments and evaluating learner proficiency
- Strong facilitation, presentation, communication and coaching skills
- Experience developing training manuals, learning material and/or digital learning content
- Comfortable using digital learning tools and modern training technologies
- Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to learners with varying levels of technical knowledge
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, product and operational teams
- Valid driver’s licence – essential
- Must be medically fit and able to travel nationally when required
Experience within the mining technology sector, Proximity Detection Systems (PDS), electronic safety systems or similar technologies would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Training Programme Development
- Design, develop and maintain advanced technical and product training programmes.
- Develop training interventions for employees, customers and business partners.
- Create comprehensive training manuals, course material, presentations and learner resources.
- Develop and support e-learning modules, digital learning content and technical simulations.
- Ensure all training material remains technically accurate and aligned with current products and engineering developments.
- Ensure training programmes comply with relevant industry, operational and competency requirements.
- Regularly review and update training content as products, systems and technologies evolve.
Technical Training & Facilitation
- Facilitate technical training through classroom, practical/hands-on and digital learning environments.
- Deliver training on electronic products, systems, diagnostics and associated technologies.
- Explain complex technical concepts in a practical and understandable manner.
- Demonstrate correct diagnostic, troubleshooting and fault-finding techniques.
- Adapt training approaches according to learner competency and operational requirements.
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to learners.
Competency Assessment & Assurance
- Conduct formal competency assessments.
- Assess theoretical and practical learner performance.
- Determine learner proficiency against required competency standards.
- Maintain accurate assessment and training records.
- Identify competency gaps and recommend appropriate corrective training.
- Support the certification and competency assurance process.
Training Needs Analysis & Evaluation
- Work closely with the Training Manager, engineering teams, product specialists and operational stakeholders to identify training requirements.
- Conduct training needs analyses and identify technical skills gaps.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions through assessments, learner feedback and relevant KPIs.
- Analyse training outcomes and recommend improvements.
- Continuously improve training methodologies, learning material and delivery approaches.
Technical & Product Alignment
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the organisation’s electronic products and technical solutions.
- Act as a technical training subject matter expert.
- Work closely with engineering and product development teams to remain informed of product changes, enhancements and new technologies.
- Ensure technical training material accurately reflects current engineering and product specifications.
- Support cross-functional projects requiring technical training expertise.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a hands-on technical trainer, rather than a purely generalist Learning & Development professional.
You should be comfortable working with electronic and technical systems, understanding diagnostics and fault-finding, and converting complex engineering information into structured, practical training.
You will need to be confident facilitating groups, conducting formal assessments and working closely with technically skilled employees, engineers, customers and operational teams.
Strong attention to detail, technical credibility and a genuine ability to develop learner competence are essential for success in this position.
Remuneration
- Basic Salary: R30,000 per month
- Cellphone Allowance: R1,850 per month
- Benefits: Applicable after successful completion of the probation period
