Position Summary:
We are seeking a competent, fully qualified, and registered Rigger Training Facilitator / Assessor / Moderator to join our accredited training institution. This role is responsible for the delivery of Rigging and Basic Rigger qualifications, as well as the assessment and moderation of learners in line with QCTO, NAMB, TETA, and MERSETA requirements.
The successful candidate must be currently or previously registered with QCTO, with a valid or recently expired registration, and possess thorough knowledge of NQF-aligned rigging qualifications and occupational training standards.
Key Responsibilities:Training Facilitation:
Facilitate theoretical and practical rigging and basic rigging training in line with SAQA Unit Standards and QCTO curricula.
Deliver instruction in a structured, safety-compliant environment, ensuring learner engagement and competence development.
Prepare and adapt lesson plans, handouts, learning aids, assessments, and supporting material according to curriculum requirements.
Provide individualized coaching and support for learners where needed.
Assessment:
Conduct formative and summative assessments for registered learners according to SETA, QCTO, and NAMB standards.
Complete assessment documentation, learner achievement records, and submit results in a timely manner.
Maintain and manage learner POEs (Portfolios of Evidence) to ensure validity, authenticity, currency, and sufficiency.
Moderation:
Conduct internal moderation of assessments and POEs to verify consistency, fairness, and alignment with the required learning outcomes.
Complete moderation reports and submit them as per ETQA and QCTO timelines.
Provide feedback to assessors and learners to improve performance and quality assurance.
Compliance & Administration:
Ensure all training, assessment, and moderation processes are compliant with QCTO, NAMB, and SETA regulations.
Maintain accurate training records, registers, attendance sheets, assessment plans, and verification evidence.
Assist with internal and external audits, verifications, and accreditation reviews.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:Occupational and Academic Qualifications:
National Certificate in Rigging (NQF Level 2–4) or equivalent qualification in rigging/lifting operations.
OD-ETDP (Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practitioner) Certificate or equivalent.
Additional qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Lifting Machinery Inspection, or Construction Supervision will be advantageous.
Registration & Accreditation:
Registered Assessor and Moderator with:
MERSETA
TETA
NAMB Recognized for the relevant rigging trade.
Previously or currently registered with QCTO as a:
Occupational Training Facilitator
Occupational Assessor
Occupational Moderator
– QCTO registration may be valid or recently expired (proof of prior registration required).Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in industrial, mining, marine, or construction rigging.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a training, assessment, or moderation role at a QCTO/SETA-accredited training provider.
Familiarity with Occupational Qualifications Framework (OQF), QCTO trade test preparation, and curriculum delivery frameworks.
Proven track record of facilitating and assessing under rigging qualifications and unit standards.
Core Competencies & Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of rigging, lifting operations, and safety regulations.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills – both practical and theoretical.
Deep understanding of QCTO/NAMB curriculum implementation, integrated summative assessments (ISATs), and logbook guidance.
Attention to detail, ability to manage training records, and ensure audit readiness.
Ability to engage adult learners, deliver outcomes-based education, and contribute to learner success.
