Introduction
An excellent opportunity is available for a passionate and experienced Trails Guide to join a professional safari operation in Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is ideal for a driven individual who is committed to conservation, exceptional guest experiences, and ongoing development within the safari and Hospitality industry.
You will be working within a structured and supportive environment that promotes growth, mentorship, and continuous learning. With access to experienced Trails Guides and dedicated mentors, this position offers the perfect platform to strengthen your leadership skills while further developing your guiding expertise.
As Head Guide, you will take responsibility for ensuring all guiding activities are delivered to the highest standards. This includes leading game drives and guided walks, mentoring junior guides, and maintaining excellent guest engagement. You will play a key role in creating memorable, safe, and educational safari experiences while contributing to the overall success of the lodge.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys working in a remote bush environment and wants to build a long-term career in wildlife, tourism, and Hospitality.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as a Trail Guide within a safari lodge environment
- FGASA Level 1 or 2 qualification with Trails Guide certification essential
- Valid First Aid Level 1 certification
- Valid driver’s licence with PDP
- Registered with DEAT / NDT
- Strong knowledge of the Zululand region, wildlife, and local culture (advantageous)
- Confident in leading game drives, guided walks, and hosting guests
- Excellent communication and guest interaction skills
- Strong leadership ability with a passion for mentoring junior guides
- Professional, reliable, and committed to conservation and bush living
