Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Traffic Control Flagger to join our construction team full time. In this vital role, you will ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians by effectively directing traffic around active construction zones. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help maintain smooth traffic flow and uphold safety protocols on various construction projects. Duties
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barricades, and flagging equipment to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through work zones.
- Direct traffic using hand signals, flags, or stop/slow paddles according to established safety procedures and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to ensure understanding of traffic patterns and safety instructions.
- Monitor work zones continuously for hazards or unsafe conditions, reporting issues promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with the installation and removal of temporary traffic control setups in accordance with project requirements.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, incidents, and safety checks for compliance purposes.
- Support heavy equipment operation when necessary, including basic mechanical knowledge of tools and machinery used on site.
Experience
- Prior experience working in traffic control, road construction, or civil infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, or paving machinery is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards is essential.
- Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely using appropriate techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude with power tools, welding skills, utility locating experience, and familiarity with Caterpillar equipment are advantageous.
- Valid commercial truck driving license (CDL) or related certifications are beneficial but not mandatory for all roles.
