Job Overview
CRS Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Test Engineer to support the quality, stability, and reliability of our Payroll and HR systems.
This role is responsible for ensuring that system changes, enhancements, and configurations meet defined business, payroll, and legislative requirements before deployment into production. The Test Engineer will work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Legislation and Implementation Consultants to validate system behaviour, data accuracy, and compliance across complex payroll and HR scenarios.
Given the nature of Payroll and HR systems, this role requires a strong understanding of systems testing, data validation, and business rules, with experience testing enterprise or compliance-driven applications. Experience in payroll or HR systems testing will be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for Payroll and HR systems
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance support testing
- Validate payroll calculations, statutory deductions, reporting outputs, and system workflows
- Test system configurations, enhancements, and defect fixes prior to release
- Identify, log, track, and retest defects using agreed tools and processes (e.g. JIRA)
- Work closely with Business Analysts and Legislation to validate requirements and expected outcomes
- Analyse test results and provide clear, structured feedback to stakeholders
- Ensure test coverage across complex business rules, data scenarios, and edge cases
- Maintain accurate test documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices
- Support production issue analysis by assisting with root cause validation where required
Requirements
- 5 years’ experience in software testing within enterprise or business-critical systems
- Playwright or Selenium experience would be an advantage.
- Relevant qualification in Systems, or Software Testing (advantageous)
- Proven experience testing complex systems with rules-based logic and data dependencies
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the SDLC
- Experience creating and executing detailed test plans, scripts, and scenarios
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable working with large data sets and validating calculations and outputs
- Experience using defect tracking and test management tools (e.g. JIRA, Azure DevOps)
- Ability to interpret business and functional requirements and translate them into effective tests
- Experience testing payroll and/or HR systems will be highly advantageous
- Exposure to compliance-driven environments (e.g. payroll, finance, HR, tax systems)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
