Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineer with 12+ years of expertise in the oil and gas industry, specializing in upstream and downstream operations. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain telecom infrastructure that supports critical field operations, pipeline monitoring, offshore communications, and refinery networks. This role requires strong technical knowledge in VoIP, MPLS, satellite communications, fiber optics, and industrial wireless systems while ensuring network security and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage telecom systems for onshore and offshore oil and gas operations.
Ensure seamless connectivity for pipeline SCADA, refinery networks, drilling sites, and offshore platforms.
Manage and oversee telecom projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation.
Troubleshoot and optimize network performance to minimize downtime in remote and high-risk environments.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (FCC, ITU, API RP 500, IEC 61850, NIST cybersecurity).
Integrate telecom systems with SCADA, DCS, and asset monitoring platforms for operational efficiency.
Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
Required Qualifications & Skills
12+ years of experience in telecom engineering within the oil and gas industry.
Strong knowledge of telecom technologies including VoIP, SIP, MPLS, VSAT, microwave, and LTE.
Proficiency in network design and optimization for remote and offshore sites.
Project management expertise with a PMP certification.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in high-risk industrial environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in upstream (exploration, drilling, production) and downstream (refining, distribution) operations.
Knowledge of cybersecurity for telecom systems in industrial environments (IEC 62443, NIST 800-82).
