Overview
Hypertext () is looking to add a new member to its editorial team. As one of the country’s leading, independent, tech news publications, we are looking to hire a technology journalist to complement our current mix of journalists. Those interested in applying need to have a keen interest in technology within the South African context, and the ability to write daily about a number of different subjects, ranging from consumer electronics and telecommunications, to education and cybersecurity.
Prospective candidates also need to demonstrate a willingness to acquire new skills, as well as an aptitude to grow into a senior role within the editorial team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include writing daily on technology topics across consumer electronics, telecommunications, education, and cybersecurity; covering technology news, reviews, interviews and original features; and demonstrating a willingness to acquire new skills and grow into a senior editorial role.
Qualifications and requirements
- A valid passport (travel is a key part of the role)
- Own reliable transport
- A tertiary qualification (does not need to be in journalism or media)
- Ability to work remotely or at an office when needed
- Experience writing technology news, reviews, interviews, and original features
- An understanding of copywriting
