TECHNOLOGIST: SOFTWARE APPLICATION MANAGEMENT

The purpose of this position is to provide specialised ICT software application management functions, ensuring operational excellence and effective regulation in support of efficient organisational and administrative processes at the Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board.

The minimum requirements are:

A National Diploma (NQF 6) /Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology

Four years or more relevant post-qualifying experience on all aspects of software application development & programming in the ICT function.
Working knowledge and experience in the following Information and Communication Technology will be an advantage: Microsoft Exchange; Word Press; Microsoft Dynamics; SAGE 300; IBM Content Management; Manage Engine Software; Databases; Cloud File Share Services; Secure File Transfer Protocols; ITIL/COBIT Processes; Industry Knowledge of the utilisation, operation, and care of computer and related electronic equipment; general principles of computer systems operation.
Code B driver’s licence.

In addition, the role requires research capabilities, advanced computer literacy, and excellent administrative and managerial skills, as well as an ability to pay attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Candidates must also possess solid report-writing abilities, demonstrate resilience under pressure and be adaptable to engage effectively with diverse individuals at various levels. Professional conduct, integrity, and strong character are also essential for this position.

The duties attached to this position include, but are not limited to:

Manage the lifecycle of IT software applications supporting WCGRB’s regulatory functions, including compliance, licensing, and reporting tools.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of software applications, from initial conception and development to deployment, operation, maintenance, and eventual retirement or replacement.
Establish governance processes and frameworks to govern the management of software applications within the organisation.
Provide training and documentation to end-users and support staff on the use and management of software applications.
Adhere to Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management processes to manage changes for software applications effectively
Operate a service desk to provide technical assistance and support to WCGRB end-users, Board members and other WCGRB stakeholders
Provide 2nd/3rd level remote assistance to users working from off-site locations.
Monitor the performance of software applications to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Implement security controls and compliance measures to protect regulatory applications and data from unauthorized access, breaches, and non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
Producing regular reports and providing insights on application performance, security, strategic improvements and requirements associated with ICT software application management.

The Board offers an all-inclusive salary package (including 13th cheque) of R 581,153.68 per annum.
