Technical Support Officer

The Technical Support Officer will provide frontline IT support for HISP SA users, ensuring smooth operation of devices, networks, software, and other IT-related infrastructure. The role will also oversee the organisations internal ticketing system management, user training for better support requests, and procurement assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

User Device Support (Laptops & Peripherals)

Troubleshoot hardware faults and software malfunctions
Perform initial setup of new devices
Sanitize and securely wipe returned devices
Provide general tech support for end users
Support HISP UPS devices for power management
Set up and Maintain a complete asset registry and ensure it is always up to date

Facility Support

Maintain WiFi connectivity at office locations.
Troubleshoot printers, input and output devices.
Support the business continuity plan and related equipment for HISP House (batteries, generator, UPS, water, etc)
Problem reporting and follow-up with Service providers and provide advice on the connectivity options for facilities to be reviewed by a Line Manager

Procurement Assistance

Assist in defining device specifications for procurement

Training & User Education

Conduct brief user training on effective ticket creation in the organisations internal ticketing system

Microsoft 365 Administration

Create and manage email and user accounts.
Address Microsoft Teams-related queries.
Perform user access audits for security and compliance

Other IT Support Responsibilities

Manage monitors, emergency power supply units, and other peripherals.
Provide IT support during training sessions at HISP House or external facilities.

HISP employees Connectivity Support

Remotely troubleshoot internet issues for employees
Ticketing Systems Support
Coordinate tickets, assigning them to the correct teams.
Manage account creation requests.
Provide general IT support via ticket resolution

Job Requirements:

Diploma in Information Technology (IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT Support services or Technical Support) will be an added advantage
Technical Certifications (Highly Recommended)
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+ – Essential for IT support certifications
Microsoft 365 Certified and hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration
1-3 years of experience in IT support/helpdesk roles
Experience using ticketing systems (preferably Zammad, but others like ServiceNow, Freshdesk, or JIRA are acceptable).
Basic networking experience
Knowledge of device setup, maintenance, and sanitization
