Full Job Description
General duties:
Use of necessary PPE
Good housekeeping, including lab laundry)
Adhere to waste management procedures to dispose of hazardous wasteComply with SANAs ISO 17025: 2017 requirements
Comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures
Attend relevant in-service training, workshops, and meetings
Ensure compliance with the quality management system, including full knowledge of the quality and practice manuals
Ensure confidentiality of lab customers’ info, test results, and proprietary rights
IT support
Internal self-auditing as per audit schedule
Monitor risks and maintain the risk register
Compile and submit lab statistics
Responsibilities:
Maintain all lab testing equipment used for analysis
Complete quality control
Reagent/media preparation
Report concern/malfunctions to the lab manager
Inform the quality assurance manager when lab procedures/processes change to update the quality management system
Perform after-hour shifts, weekends, and public holiday shifts
Assist in training and orientation of new lab staff with lab routine
Coordinate work to establish good work flow
Record lab quality logs, sheets, forms, etc
Knowledge of Tempo database
Ensure that all reagents and supplies are adequate and available in the lab
Collate workload statistics
Assist with and supervise various research projects
Manage reporting, monitoring, resources, and laboratory personnel
Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks
Ensure the lab establishes and maintains a calibration program for testing equipment that affect quality results
Root cause analysis training & competency
Equipment competency
Training:
Protocol specific training
Lab QMS documents
Lab Occupational Health and Safety documents
SANAS personnel evaluation of TS on the full lab scope of testing
Method validation: TR28f Food safety course
Any other training requested by management
Requirements:
National Diploma or BSc – Microbiology/Science/Biomedical discipline
3-5 years’ experience in a Microbiology Food Testing Laboratory and as a technical signatory.
In-depth knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Experienced in conducting method validations.
Drivers licence (Optional)
Effective data trending, document control, and technical bench skills
Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Participating in evaluating method procedures and method validations
Knowledge of SANAS ISO 17025- 2017 –Standard.
Good Laboratory Practice.
Experience in Internal Auditing
Liaising with clients as required.
Manage the externally provided products and services with the laboratory team.
Facilitating laboratory staff rosters and shifts
