Position Overview:
Filta-Matix is South Africa’s leading HVAC filter manufacturer and distributor of air filtration solutions. The company also specialises in cleanroom system design, validation, and laboratory equipment manufacturing.
We are seeking a dynamic, technically strong individual with a history of working in HVAC / cleanroom spaces to join our Cape Town team.
This role is a hybrid between technical services and strategic business development, designed to expand our cleanroom validation capacity while strengthening our position as a cleanroom and filtration specialist in the market.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in:
- Scaling our validation services capability
- Reducing operational bottlenecks
- Driving high-value technical engagements with clients
- Supporting revenue growth in the cleanroom and healthcare sectors
This is a client-facing role requiring a technically credible “people-person” who can confidently engage engineers, consultants, and decision-makers while delivering high-quality validation services and identifying new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleanroom Validation Services & Technical Execution
Services include the following:
- Cleanroom and facility validation
- Operating theatre validation
- Biosafety cabinet validation
- Laminar flow cabinet validation
- DOP testing and airflow measurements
Ensure:
- Accurate, compliant, and timely execution of validation services
- High-quality report generation with reduced turnaround times
- Adherence to relevant industry standards and best practices
Support the growth of a second validation team to increase capacity and reduce booking lead times.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, tools, and methodologies.
2. Technical Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders including engineers, consultants, contractors, and end-users.
Lead:
- Technical site visits
- Client consultations
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving engagements
Act as a trusted advisor, helping clients improve compliance, system performance, and operational efficiency.
Increase client engagement through proactive communication (e.g. validation reminders, system improvement recommendations).
3. Business Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities, primarily within:
- Cleanroom environments (pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratories)
- Healthcare facilities
- Data centres and controlled environments
Leverage technical expertise:
- Educate the market on the Filta-Matix product and service scope
- Engage competitor accounts and unlock new opportunities
- Support the conversion of technical discussions into commercial outcomes
- Contribute to proposals, tenders, and solution design aligned with client requirements
4. Internal Technical Support & Knowledge Sharing
Reduce reliance on senior technical leadership:
Drive knowledge sharing within the Cape Town team to strengthen overall technical capability.
Assist in mentoring and developing junior technical staff where required.
5. Operational & Commercial Impact
Increase validation and revenue generation by:
- Expanding service capacity
- Reducing reporting delays
- Enabling acceptance of previously declined work
Contribute directly to revenue through:
- Billable validation services
- Identification of upsell and cross-sell opportunities
- Strengthening long-term client relationships
Provide feedback on:
- Market trends
- Competitor positioning
- Opportunities for service and product expansion
Qualifications & Experience:
- Matric (Grade 12) required
- An advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years’ experience in HVAC, cleanroom environments, validation, or related technical field
- Experience in cleanroom validation (advantageous but not essential – training can be provided)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, airflow, and filtration principles
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
