About the Role As Talent Manager, you will lead the delivery of Blok’s talent strategy across the full employee lifecycle while overseeing the day-to-day execution of the People function through the People & Office Coordinator. Partnering closely with the Head of Operations and leaders across the business, you will be responsible for attracting exceptional talent, developing high-performing teams, driving organisational capability, and creating an outstanding employee experience. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on leadership. You will shape and execute initiatives across talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, employee engagement, organisational development, and people operations, ensuring our people practices enable the business to scale while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.

Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition

  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment strategy and delivery across the business. Partner with leaders on workforce planning and hiring requirements. Develop proactive sourcing strategies and talent pipelines. Drive employer branding and candidate experience initiatives. Oversee recruitment reporting and continuously improve hiring processes. Partner with hiring managers to ensure consistent, high-quality hiring decisions.
  • Talent Management & Organisational Development Develop and implement the company’s talent management strategy. Drive career development initiatives, including Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and career conversations. Design and maintain career pathways across the business. Lead succession planning and talent review processes.
  • Facilitate learning and development initiatives aligned to business needs. Partner with leaders to identify critical capability gaps and development opportunities. Drive organisational development initiatives that strengthen capability and organisational effectiveness.
  • Performance Management Lead and continuously improve the company’s performance management framework. Coordinate performance review cycles across the business. Coach managers on performance conversations and development planning. Support performance improvement processes where required. Drive a culture of continuous feedback and accountability.
  • Employee Experience & Culture Lead onboarding and offboarding strategies to create a seamless employee experience. Drive employee engagement initiatives and culture-building programmes. Partner with leaders to improve employee wellbeing, engagement, and retention. Champion recognition initiatives and reinforce company values. Support internal communication initiatives that strengthen culture and alignment.
  • HR Operations & Governance Oversee HR operations to ensure efficient and compliant people processes. Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices remain compliant with legislation and business requirements. Support employee relations matters, providing guidance to leaders where required. Oversee HR systems, reporting, and people analytics. Ensure accurate HR documentation, employee records, and governance processes are maintained.
  • Leadership Lead, coach, and develop the People & Office Coordinator. Delegate operational HR activities while providing guidance, coaching, and support. Create opportunities for growth and development within the People function. Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and high-performing team culture.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Talent Management, Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related people function.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full employee lifecycle. Proven experience in talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Experience designing or implementing talent management initiatives, including career development, succession planning, or organisational development programmes.
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices. Experience using HRIS platforms and HR reporting tools.
  • Experience partnering with leaders and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
