We currently have an opportunity available at any of our Saryx offices which include:
Johannesburg, eMalahleni, Richards Bay, Ballito.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The incumbent will work closely with the Lead DBA and IT Team to ensure optimal performance and high availability of our database systems.
MAIN DUTIES
- Administer, maintain and monitor database environments.
- Monitor and optimise database performance, availability, capacity and SQL queries.
- Perform database troubleshooting, tuning and root-cause analysis.
- Manage backup, restoration and recovery, and assist with Disaster Recovery and High Availability.
- Database design, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
- Maintain database security, access controls, encryption, and data protection.
- Develop and maintain database scripts and automation.
- Support database-related infrastructure, software development, and Power BI reporting.
- Maintain database documentation and support technical and operational standards.
MAIN REQUIREMENTS
- Degree (Information Technology)
- 5-10 Years experience as a DBA in large-scale, mission critical environments.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in:Database administration, monitoring and performance tuning.
- SQL queries, indexing and database optimisation.
- Backup, recovery and Disaster Recovery of large databases.
- Database security, access control, and data protection.
- Microsoft SQL Server.
- Advantageous:Qualification or certification in Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, Cybersecurity.
- Experience with cloud-based database environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with database monitoring tools.
- Experience with SSRS or Power BI and database-driven reporting.
- Experience in DB capacity planning, design, set-up, configuration, patching, and upgrading.
- Software development experience.
- Other:Excellent analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Senior DBA, developers and IT teams.
- Self-discipline, resilience, and tenacity .
- Valid driver’s license.
