Position: Spec : Systems Engineer (Unix& Linux) – Western Cape
Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS)
Core Description
Responsible for all Unix / Linux (open systems) installations, modifications, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of cloud and infrastructure solutions. Provide specialized technical support and guidance through high-level analysis, diagnosis, and problem-solving. Offer technical consulting to clients and engineers, collaborate with sales and support teams on client needs, and assist engineers in technical functions.
Key Deliverables / Primary Functions
Act as the customer-facing interface between the customer/account and third parties, actively identifying risks.
Serve as the first point of escalation for service delivery complaints across all priority levels with support teams.
Oversee Service Management, Service Operations, and Service Reviews to meet service standards according to SLAs and drive continuous improvement.
Manage due diligence reports and proposals for new clients.
Assist in recommending product sets and defining go-to-market strategies aligned with company strategies.
Support and maintain Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft Identity Management infrastructure, ensuring compliance with quality standards, SLAs, and operational parameters from service transition through to migration or decommissioning.
Create and maintain technical infrastructure standards and procedures.
Evaluate operational compliance and assist in audit reviews.
Participate in technical design and help define monitoring and support thresholds.
Collaborate to optimize engagement between BCX divisions and strengthen relationships with customers and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications
NQF 6: 3-year Degree/Diploma/National Diploma
OR NQF 4: Grade 12
Additional
Education
– Preferred / Advantage Experience
5 years’ experience in Unix / Linux
Certifications
IBM Sales: Power Systems with AIX
Professional Memberships in Relevant Industry Level of Engagement & Span of Control
