Sous Chef – Luxury Safari Lodge | Phalaborwa
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience

Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef for a prestigious luxury safari lodge located in the heart of Limpopo. This is an incredible opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to work in a high-end lodge environment, delivering outstanding cuisine in a breathtaking natural setting.
The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operation, maintaining the highest standards in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef in all kitchen operations and assume full responsibility in their absence
Assist with menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
Oversee food preparation, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes
Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, maintaining a motivated and efficient team
Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory control
Monitor kitchen costs and support in managing food cost and wastage
Accommodate special dietary requirements and guest requests
Maintain high levels of organisation and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
Requirements:
Formal culinary training or relevant qualification
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a luxury lodge or fine dining environment
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
High attention to detail and creative flair
Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices
Ability to work in a remote location and adapt to a bush environment
Flexible, proactive, and able to perform under pressure
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
