We are looking for a skilled, versatile Intermediate Software Developer to join our team in Midrand, Gauten. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting cutting-edge software solutions for both internal and external clients. From creating new applications to optimizing hardware-software integrations and supporting existing database structures, your work will directly drive our technical operations forward.

Main Responsibilities

As a Software Developer, your core areas of focus will include:

  • Software Delivery Management: Plan and manage the timely delivery of high-quality software, taking true ownership of your commitments while providing transparent, daily progress and risk updates.
  • Design & Development: Review business and technical requirements to deliver robust, secure software designs. Write clean, scalable code adhering to established coding standards and best practices.
  • Production Support: Provide 2nd-line production support by resolving escalated critical issues with urgency and offering clear feedback to our helpdesk.
  • Team Facilitation & Technical Guidance: Help onboard team members, unblock technical/process obstacles, mentor junior developers/DevOps, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Health & Safety: Actively participate in annual departmental safety plans, attend safety forums, and maintain compliance with workplace safety policies.

Ideal Candidate

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 / Matric Equivalent.
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems).
  • 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and SOLID principles.
  • Experience with Relational Databases (Microsoft SQL) and ORM frameworks.
  • Experience building Windows desktop applications and WPF UIs.
  • Experience with low-level coding standards for performance, memory, and resource optimization on constrained/embedded devices.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to define requirements and develop device communication protocols.

Technical Knowledge & Tools:

  • Languages: Highly effective in C# and Java (Java 7 / Java 8).
  • Frameworks: .NET Core, .NET Framework, Spring Framework, Angular, and Bootstrap.
  • Tools & Architecture: RESTful APIs, Git, JIRA, and JSP.
  • Testing: Experience with testing frameworks (jUnit, TestNG) and mocking frameworks (Mockito, JMockit).
  • Systems & Data: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Microsoft desktop/server OS, data normalization, and performance tuning

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong computer literacy, including Google Workspace and MS Office.
  • Excellent ability to understand organisational goals and navigate complexity.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with a commitment to sharing knowledge and cooperating with others.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of software delivery and act professionally under changing circumstances.
  • Experience collaborating with hardware engineers, firmware developers, and product managers to define requirements and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Knowledge of Spring Framework, .Net Core, and .Net Framework.
  • Experience with data normalisation, efficient data access, and performance tuning.
