The Social Auxiliary Worker will assist in the delivery of social services to persons with disabilities and their families in under-resourced communities. Working under the supervision of a registered social worker, the role includes individual and group support, community outreach, facilitating referrals, basic administrative duties, and assisting with awareness and inclusion programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with peer supporters, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders to promote the rights, well-being and inclusion of people with disabilities.
Required Minimum Qualification: 1-year Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work
Required Minimum Work Experience:
Must be a qualified social auxiliary worker with at least 3 years work experience.
Must be registered with the SACSSP
Administration & basic report writing skill and strong communication skills
Duties/Responsibilities:
Facilitation of Community-based Groups;
Support to Social Worker & Peer Supporters in Individual Case work;
Networking, Awareness raising on disability-related matters/needs;
Assist with Programme & Organisational admin, reporting, monitoring, evaluation & task execution
Desired skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with empathy and cultural sensitivity
Ability to facilitate group activities and provide basic psychosocial support
Knowledge of community resources, referral systems, and social work principles
Good administrative, record-keeping, and basic computer skills
Fluency in local languages and ability to engage diverse communities
MUST HAVE requirements:
Drivers License with own transport is essential
Bilingual (English & Afrikaans essential – Xhosa an added advantage)
Live within a 30 km radius of Stellenbosch
