AWS | MAP | WAFR | Pre-Sales | Remote | Cloud Architecture
We’re on the hunt for a Senior Solutions Architect who knows the AWS ecosystem like the back of their hand. Someone who thrives in pre-sales conversations, gets a kick out of documenting complex architecture clearly, and genuinely enjoys mentoring others.
This role is 100% remote (within South Africa) and calls for a sharp communicator with serious technical depth. You’ll be the go-to person for leading client discovery sessions, defining scope and architecture, and owning high-impact proposals. If you’ve delivered migration projects via AWS MAP, conducted WAFR assessments, and know how to build repeatable, documented processes – keep reading.

What You’ll Be Doing
Client Discovery & Engagement
Lead client discovery sessions to unpack business and technical needs.
Translate complexity into clarity – no jargon, just well-documented outputs.
Define architecture, scope, and success criteria. Then hand it off with precision.
Proposals & Pre-Sales
Oversee proposal development from start to sign-off.
Ensure all risks are accounted for – and mitigated.
Maintain and improve internal proposal templates, frameworks, and documentation.
AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP)
Own MAP projects from pre-sales to delivery.
Define scope, lead architecture planning, and deliver high-quality outputs.
Document every step and help refine playbooks/checklists to guide others.
Well-Architected Framework Reviews (WAFR)
Lead WAFR assessments and offer solid, actionable recommendations.
Help scale WAFR delivery by refining templates, reports, and training peers.
Mentorship & Documentation
Mentor junior and mid-level architects.
Lead process improvement efforts with clear, accessible documentation.
Be the voice of consistency – help shape how architecture is delivered.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work hand-in-hand with pre-sales and technical delivery teams.
Share knowledge, fill in the gaps, and make sure the team follows documented best practices.
What You’ll Need
Must-Have:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Proven pre-sales experience in AWS environments
Hands-on leadership in AWS MAP projects (discovery through delivery)
Solid experience running WAFR assessments
Background in infrastructure and cloud architecture (think hybrid setups)
Strong communication and documentation skills
Bonus Points:
Experience with containerised environments (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS, EKS)
CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
Prior experience with VMware, Cisco, or storage/backup systems
Process-driven with a passion for coaching others
